About

Why we built this.

Word for Word exists to help you write honestly and meet Scripture right there in it — without anyone pretending to speak for God.

Most of our faith doesn't happen on a stage. It happens in the car after a difficult conversation, at 11pm when the house is finally quiet, in the week where nothing is wrong exactly but nothing feels alive either. Those moments rarely get written down — and when they do, they rarely get connected to anything.

We made Word for Word for those moments. Write what's actually true for you, and then, if you'd like, sit with Scripture that may speak into it, kept in its context, described honestly.

What we think an app like this can do

Software can't tell you what God is saying, and we won't pretend otherwise. What it can do is hand you the text, keep it in context, ask a kinder question than you might have asked yourself, and then quietly step back. That feels like enough, and it's the part we want to do really well.

Things we've decided not to build

  • A feed or a follower count — nothing that turns prayer into performance.
  • Streaks or scores that suggest your faith can be measured.
  • Advertising built on anything you've confessed in a journal.
  • Denominational point-scoring dressed up as reflection.

Being honest about our limits

Reflections aren't counselling, spiritual direction, or pastoral care. We can't know your history, your church, or the people who love you. When something is heavy, we want to point you toward those people — and we've built it to do just that. You can read more on our safety page.

We'd love to hear from you

If a reflection missed the mark, a passage felt misapplied, or something simply felt careless, please tell us — it genuinely helps. You'll find us on the support page.
